I am the editor (and contributing author) of two nationally published magazines. I have a B.A. in English from Mississippi State University, where I also worked as a writing tutor for the College of Engineering. This was a tough job, but I love my Enginerds.
I have had the opportunity to interview several “celebrities” and profile their cancer survivor or caregiver stories. My favorite interviewees include Mayor Rudy Guiliani, Desperate Housewives’ Kathryn Joosten, Olivia Newton-John, Patrick Dempsey (yes, he is McDreamy), and Inigo Montoya himself, Mandy Patinkin. You can e-mail me at the address below if you want copy of any of these articles.
I consider myself a grammar stickler, not a grammar Nazi. I support the preservation (and legitimate shaping) of the English language, but I don’t take it to ridiculous extremes like some people do. I think the proper use of language is not considered as important as it should be, especially by students, and this makes me sad. I prefer the Oxford comma, I sometimes begin sentence with conjunctions, and (gasp) I occasionally end them with prepositions.
